Why students, parents and families have been pleased with their decision to take the Baldridge Program

The Baldridge Program is especially tailored to respond to each student's specific interests and needs.

Baldridge offers much more than simply "speed reading."

In addition to reading faster, students learn to:

  • Prepare for tests in a more thorough and organized way which improves retention.
  • Budget study time more wisely.
  • Organize lecture notes better.
  • Organize material for term papers.
  • Derive more satisfaction from reading.

READING RATE Words-Per-Minute (WPM)

At the end of the program, reading rates are more flexible and faster—usually 2 or 3 times higher than the starting rates with BETTER COMPREHENSION

This can CUT STUDY TIME IN HALF and RAISE TEST SCORES SUBSTANTIALLY

University Provost/Parent

"In addition to our satisfaction from offering the Baldridge program to our college freshman class each year, I believe that it is important to note that this program is suitable for students of all ability levels.

When my own son was in high school, he was well prepared with a strong academic background and good study habits. But by taking the Baldridge course, he was able to more than double his reading speed and substantially increase his comprehension level as well as do better on his test scores. I can whole heartedly recommend this program for all students."

Support for Communities

Serving Elite Parents and Scholarly Students

For Undermotivated and Challenged Students Who Want to Learn

Not every student comes to learning with natural enthusiasm, and that's okay. The Baldridge Program is specifically designed to help undermotivated and challenged students who may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply disengaged—yet deep down want to succeed.

We understand that frustration with reading and studying can lead to avoidance. Many students aren't lazy or incapable—they're simply challenged by inefficient methods that make learning feel harder than it needs to be. When reading is slow and comprehension is difficult, motivation naturally declines.

The Baldridge Program breaks this cycle. By teaching practical, proven techniques that deliver immediate results, we help students experience success quickly. This success rebuilds confidence, reignites motivation, and transforms the learning experience. Students discover that they can read faster, understand better, and actually enjoy the process—turning reluctance into genuine enthusiasm for learning.

For Gifted Students and Overachievers

The Baldridge Program is ideal for gifted and overachieving students who seek a competitive edge. It helps them handle heavy academic loads, prepare for advanced coursework, and excel in competitive fields like pre-med, economics, and sciences. By learning to read faster with better comprehension, organize study time wisely, and reduce fatigue, these students can maintain their high performance while deriving more satisfaction from learning.

Successful students experiencing academic difficulty or seeking enrichment benefit from tailored strategies that cut study time in half, raise test scores, and foster lifelong learning skills.

Mother/Lawyer and Parent of Three Children

"Quite a few years ago, I took the Baldridge Program for college and it helped both academically and in my legal career. I am delighted to let you know three children are now enrolled in the course at Ivy League Universities and our daughter, who is entering the tenth grade this fall, has been most enthusiastic about her participation two weeks ago in your program.

She managed to finish all of the books for her Summer reading list. She adores the miniature dictionary and challenges us regularly with "SAT-type" vocabulary words.

Thank you for your much needed service."

Parents of Three Children

"Our three children each enrolled in the Baldridge Program at a different age: Jim this summer, before entering 6th grade; Paul a few years ago, before her senior year in high school; and Mary last summer, preceding learning and all benefited greatly. Jim's improved to become organizational skills have enabled him independent as he prepares to enter the sixth grade school. Paul did quite well in high school and was choice. Mary ended up at the head of her class in her program helped her in this achievement. She is now at Yale.

Our Family is greatly indebted to the Baldridge service. Thank you."

Student comment from Loomis Chaffee

School: Loomis Chaffee, Date: 6/15/97 1. It went from 104-195, but my comprehension went up as well. Now I feel comfortable allowing my eyes to go because I can take in the info. at the same time. 6. Cliff is totally positive and makes what some people look at as torture, actually interesting'n. He's got some great stories that I've tucked away to share with some friends + my confidence is up for next year's courses. He's a great guy to work with - clear + direct (and a good sense of humor. I felt very comfortable + I await his visit in September. Thanx Cliff - Ollie

Student comment from Greenwich High to Princeton

School: Greenwich High School -> Princeton, Date: July 27/1997 1. My rate has certainly improved. The range of rates are among the higher numbers now. 6. The teacher was extremely effective and very encouraging. He taught the techniques very well and without the program I feel like I am reading much faster and I will continue to try and improve my reading rate (with the having good comprehension) using the techniques that I was taught. The teacher and program definitely benefited me.

Student comment from Darien High / Carnegie Mellon

School: Darien High / Carnegie Mellon University, Date: 1.7.98 1. I went from a rate of about 100 words a minute to about 160 words a minute for good understanding. But my range can now go up to the 500s when I'm just browsing and figuring out the main concepts in a chapter. 6. Very enthusiastic teacher. Believes strongly in what he teaches. Motivational speaker.

Student comment from Greenwich High → Georgetown

School: Greenwich High → Georgetown, Date: July 14, 1997 1. All of my rates have drastically improved and vary depending on the type of book I am reading. My range has become more narrow. The differences in speed among X, F and C & A reading styles have decreased. 6. I think I have learned a lot about how to read faster while still comprehending the content. I also liked the black out technique and other odd methods for improving studying. They did not take too much time or extra effort yet still seem to be effective.

Student comment from Conrad High to Colgate U

School: Conrad High School (Hartford) to Colgate U, Date: August 10,1997 1. When I first took the timing for very good comprehension I was at about 204 words per minute. After "warming up, and going through the program I was able to get it up to around 330 words per minute. 6. This was a very beneficial program for me to enroll in before I head off to college. Knowing the little hints will give me a little edge over the other students. With all the positive encouragement I got I'm sure that I will believe in these approaches and be able to use them to the best of my ability to be successful at Colgate.

Student comment from Darien High School

School: Darien High School, Date: 10/19 1. At the beginning of the program I had one slow style of reading, but after the program I not only learned how to survey and explore scan, read at a fair level, but I increased my base rate by 100 wpm. 6. He was very motivational and always positive. Fun and constantly interesting. I enjoyed the course, especially taking it with Cliff. Thank you! Way to Boogie!

Student comment from Greenwich High

School: Greenwich High, Date: 11/14/97 1. Overall, my rate and range had increased substantially (up a minimum of 50-100 words a minute). 6. Mr. Baldridge's manner and style of teaching were very good. He was extremely consistent in coaching and pushing me to go to my limits during the reading and reading sessions. In addition, he taught in a manner that demonstrated he had a superior and strong background of the concepts he taught in the speed reading course. Overall, a very good beneficial program!
